Former radio director Andreas Blum dies

Former radio director Andreas Blum died on Friday at the age of 85. He was head of the former Radio DRS from 1979 to 1999 and founded the former youth station DRS 3 in 1983 under his leadership. Blum was also a member of the Bernese Grand Council and National Council.
His death was announced by Radio SRF on Monday. Blum, who grew up in Zug and trained as an actor in Zurich, studied history and philosophy in Bern. He initially worked as a radio journalist and actor. Among other things, he became known for his role in the television series "Salto Mortale".
Blum was also a top athlete for many years. In the 1960s and 1970s, he was one of the top Swiss athletes in modern pentathlon. He also made a career in politics. From 1974, he sat in the Bernese cantonal parliament for the SP, from where he moved to the National Council a year later.
Throughout his career, Blum has been committed to quality journalism. Among other things, he was also involved in the action committee of Bread for the Brethren, Amnesty International, Exit and Swiss Solidarity. Andreas Blum is survived by his wife and three children.
