Four people are still missing in the upper Maggia Valley, which was hit hard by the storm. Five missing persons have been found dead so far, one of whom is still unidentified, the head of the Ticino emergency response team told the media on Thursday.

The search is continuing, explained Antonio Ciocco to the media in Locarno early on Thursday evening. It is currently concentrating mainly on the river courses. Specialists were investigating all the places where traces could be found.

The search is highly dependent on the weather, Ciosso continued. In addition, the water has to be clear, which is not the case everywhere after the heavy rainfall last weekend.

Meteo Switzerland is again forecasting heavy rainfall for the upper Maggia Valley over the weekend. For Saturday, 23 millimetres of precipitation are forecast for Cevio and 39 millimetres for Sunday. Thunderstorms are also expected, said Ciocco.
