Galaxus achieves record sales of 2.7 billion Swiss francs in 2023

The online retailer Galaxus continued to grow strongly last year. Turnover at Digitec and Galaxus rose by 13.1 percent to 2.7 billion Swiss francs, as the Migros subsidiary announced in a press release on Thursday.
This is the highest level in the company's history. Galaxus generated the lion's share of its business in Switzerland.
In Germany and the European markets, strong growth was achieved in all categories and sales amounted to 286 million euros. This is an increase of 55.4 percent compared to the previous year, the online retailer wrote. Cell phones, consumer electronics and IT products were particularly popular in international business.
Hundreds of thousands of new customers
Both in the domestic market and in neighboring European countries, the largest Swiss online store succeeded in gaining market share and attracting many new customers despite declining retail volumes, according to the report. In total, more than 4 million people shopped at Galaxus at least once in 2023, it added. Germany, Austria and the rest of Europe accounted for 1 million of this figure.
In the previous year, Galaxus reported 3.3 million customers. 700,000 of them in Germany and Austria. The company launched in Germany in 2018 and in Austria in 2021. The company also operates in France, Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands.
In Switzerland, electronics retailer Digitec and online department store Galaxus increased their product range by over 30 percent to 6.3 million products in 2023, the company wrote: "Daily consumer goods were particularly in demand in Switzerland. We saw the highest percentage growth in the supermarket and beauty + health sectors, where sales exceeded those of the previous year by over 30 percent."
