On Friday night, it stormed heavily in Switzerland down to low altitudes: According to SRF Meteo, gale-force winds of up to 123 km/h were measured at the Rünenberg BL measuring station (610 meters above sea level).
On the Säntis (around 2500 meters above sea level), the wind was even whistling at 134 km/h at times, as SRF Meteo reported via X, formerly Twitter. The Chasseral BE measuring station (around 1600 meters above sea level) reported 133 km/h.
The measuring stations in Piz Martegnas GR (116 km/h), Le Moléson FR (110 km/h), Les Diablerets VD (109 km/h), Schaffhausen (107 km/h) and Altdorf UR (102 km/h) all cracked the hundred mark, according to SRF Meteo. However, according to the weather service, the wind died down in the second half of the night and it became calmer.
For Friday, SRF Meteo announced on its website that there would be sunshine in many places with highs of around nine degrees and a moderate south-westerly wind. It would remain mostly dry, although there would be isolated showers, especially in the Jura. Zurich and eastern Switzerland also had to prepare for a cloudy start to the day.
