This summer, Geneva Airport expects passenger numbers to almost return to pre-coronavirus pandemic levels. Around 3.2 million passengers are expected to travel through the airport in the summer months of July and August, according to a press release issued on Wednesday afternoon
According to the airport's forecasts, passenger volumes in July and August are expected to be only 1.6% and 1.8% respectively below the pre-coronavirus figures for 2019. A total of 124 destinations will be served by 45 airlines from Geneva Airport this summer. Most flights will be operated by EasyJet and Swiss.
In order to cope with the expected rush, the workforce has been increased. The airport service provider Swissport, for example, has also increased its workforce by 130 employees since the beginning of the year. Swissport handles over 70 percent of ground handling services in Geneva.
