At the meeting of German-speaking social affairs and health ministers, Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider signed a declaration on the joint fight against poverty and social inequality. This included, for example, promoting employment for all population groups and investing in education and early childhood development.
A high-quality, needs-based pension system is also to be established, as the federal government announced on Monday. The ministers present - from Switzerland, Austria, Germany, the Principality of Liechtenstein and Luxembourg - also reaffirmed their commitment to tackling the social consequences of climate change.
Baume-Schneider also held a bilateral exchange with the Austrian Federal Minister Johannes Rauch on digitalization in the healthcare sector and the electronic patient dossier on the fringes of the meeting.
The next meeting of German-speaking social affairs and health ministers will take place in Switzerland in 2025, as the Federal Department of Home Affairs (FDHA) also announced.
