The cantonal police of Graubünden were involved in the search for a missing person in the border region with Austria on Saturday morning. A 66-year-old man from the Austrian district of Feldkirch has been missing since Wednesday.

Two Graubünden Alpine police officers supported the Austrian emergency services in their search on Saturday morning, as a spokesperson for the Graubünden cantonal police told the Keystone-SDA news agency on request. The operation took place in the Prättigau border region.

In addition, a Rega helicopter was called out for a search flight. This should have been carried out on Friday evening, but had to be postponed due to the weather. The spokesperson emphasized that the Austrian police were in charge of the operation. The Graubünden police were merely providing support, which is customary for operations on the border.

According to a statement from the Vorarlberg police on Friday evening, the man had set off from the "Schattenlagant" hiking parking lot on Wednesday morning. He presumably wanted to continue his hike via the Gamslücke on the Swiss side over the Salarureljoch into the Nenzinger Himmel.

After he was reported missing, a major search operation was launched on Friday, in which a police helicopter was deployed alongside the mountain rescue team, police and police dog squadron, it was reported. The search operation was called off at 9.30 p.m. after dark. The Graubünden cantonal police were involved in the search operation on Saturday.
