Grisons she-wolf was shot illegally

Two gunshot wounds were found during the follow-up investigation of a dead she-wolf from Graubünden. The cantonal Office for Hunting and Fishing (AJF) therefore filed a poaching complaint.
The lead female of the Calanda pack had to be shot in August 2023 because she was in a poor physical condition. However, the subsequent pathological examination revealed not only a malignant lung tumor, but also two older gunshot wounds, as the AJF published in its quarterly report on Thursday.
Metal splinters compatible with fragments of a bullet were found on the right front leg. This injury had led to visible scarring. In addition, the animal had probably been shot at with buckshot.
