Rock icon Slash (58) from Guns N' Roses likes to try out different things in music. By his own admission, the guitarist, who is currently on tour with Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, doesn't care what others think.

"I never cared," Slash told the German press agency DPA in London. "I do my thing, and either people like it or they don't."

The guitar virtuoso, who is releasing his first blues album ("Orgy Of The Damned") with many guest stars on May 17th, explained that his musical tastes are diverse. "I like different things in music. So sometimes I do this and sometimes I do that, which people don't expect." Sometimes people have question marks on their faces, Slash said, but that doesn't matter. "Some people will be totally interested and like it, others will say, "That's not heavy metal enough." It doesn't matter! What I do, I do for me first and foremost."

Professional priorities

Although all projects are equally important to him, there are certain priorities for professional reasons. "Now I'm on the road with the Conspirators. It's a tour that we wanted to do two years ago, but then the pandemic hit," he says. "But as soon as we could go on tour again, the bigger bands came first, so Guns N' Roses and (Myles Kennedy's band) Alter Bridge. When you look at the big picture, some things take priority. But for me personally, what's important is always what I'm doing at the moment."

Slash is giving a concert with Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators at Zurich's Hallenstadion on April 23. In the summer, he will go on tour in the USA with his own blues festival.
