The Eastern Swiss website provider Backslash was hit by a DDOS attack on Sunday morning. As a result, numerous municipal and cantonal websites were unavailable.
In the canton of Aargau, the company manages the websites of 68 municipalities. These include smaller municipalities such as Biberstein, Buchs and Kölliken, as well as the cities of Aarau, Baden and Brugg. The media office of the city of Aarau confirmed the cyber attack on its website provider when asked by the news agency Keystone-SDA. CH Media first reported on it.
The website of the canton of Aargau is not affected. The hacker attack on the external provider also had no influence on the transmission of the voting results from the municipalities to the canton, it was stated on request.
Outside the canton of Aargau, the websites of the canton of Glarus and its municipalities were also unavailable, as the canton announced on X.
