Cement manufacturer Holcim has made another acquisition in the field of construction waste recycling. According to a statement on Monday, Holcim has acquired the Belgian company Mark Desmedt.
The company is reportedly the leading recycler of demolition waste in Belgium. Mark Desmedt recycles around 500,000 tons of construction waste in the Brussels and Antwerp regions every year. This figure is set to rise to 10 million tons of construction waste per year in the future.
Founded in 1989 as a family business, Mark Desmedt is to spread Holcim's Eco-Cycle technology "throughout Belgium and thus turn the circular economy into an engine for profitable growth," Holcim CEO Miljan Gutovic is quoted as saying in the press release.
This is Holcim's fourth acquisition in the circular construction sector this year. Holcim has already acquired the Cand-Landi Group in Switzerland, Land Recovery in the UK and Mendiger Basalt in Germany.
