House fire in Nidfurn GL started by suicide

According to new police findings, the house fire in Nidfurn GL last week was started by the resident of the house, who was found dead. As the Glarus cantonal police announced on Thursday, the 48-year-old shot himself immediately after setting the fire.
The man was initially thought to be missing after the house burned down a week ago. A body was then found in the ruins of the fire. This has now been identified as the missing, sole occupant of the house, the cantonal police wrote.
The cantonal police assume that the man set the fire himself, explained police commander Markus Denzler at the request of the Keystone-SDA news agency. He then grabbed a firearm.
