At the end of the annual meeting in Davos, WEF Director Alois Zwinggi warned that the horrendous price of housing means that affordable accommodation for security personnel is also dwindling. If they can no longer find a place to sleep, it will be difficult.

It should not be forgotten that thousands of security personnel are deployed around the WEF in Davos, said Zwinggi in an interview with Keystone-SDA. They also need somewhere to sleep.

However, due to the many free riders, the prices of apartments are being driven up to such an extent that the affordable supply is becoming increasingly scarce. The town of Davos normally has a population of just over 12,000. During the WEF week, this figure rises to over 40,000 people. This shows the massive parallel universe of the Forum, whose guest numbers have remained constant at 2,800 people for ten years.

The WEF could no longer be held in Davos if the security staff were unable to find affordable accommodation. In general, however, the location is being retained and an "extremely productive" dialog is being maintained with the municipality in this area.

This also led to stricter rules for the temporary structures of the freeloaders on the promenade. Construction work was only allowed to begin in the second week of January, one week before the annual meeting. Zwinggi announced that freeloaders would also be put in their place in future.
