Implenia has been awarded a new contract in Switzerland. Together with Frutiger, the construction group has been awarded the contract to build the "Sisikon Tunnel".

The total order value amounts to more than 430 million Swiss francs, the Group announced on Friday. For Implenia, this results in an order volume of over 250 million. Implenia represents 60 percent of the consortium (ARGE), Frutiger the remaining 40 percent. The lot is "the centerpiece of the new road section on the eastern shore of Lake Uri/Lake Lucerne."

The core of the contract is the single-tube road tunnel, which is around 4.4 kilometers long. The consortium is also constructing additional underground structures such as access tunnels, diversion points and ventilation centers. The objection period runs until the end of July 2024 and construction is scheduled to begin in mid-2025. The work should then be completed in 2034.

Most of the approximately 2 million tons of excavated material will be used for an extensive renaturation project at the Reuss delta in Flüelen.
