In the Last 25 Years More Wolves Have Been Run Over Than Hunted

In the past 25 years, 128 wolves have been found dead in Switzerland. 54 were legally hunted, 38 died in traffic accidents and 11 were poached. This means that almost half of the wolves (42%) were legally hunted, according to the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment. In addition, eight cases of attempted poaching were identified: five legally hunted predators and three run-over wolves showed traces of illegal shooting. Four wolves died in a crash, three drowned, two were caught in an avalanche, two died in fights with other wolves and the cause of death of six wolves remains unknown.nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
