In the canton of Zug, the competition for the three National Council seats is fierce: 99 women and men are vying for one, the highest number ever. However, the three incumbents are firmly entrenched in their seats, as are the two current bürgerliche Council of States members. Gerhard Pfister, president of the Mitte party, was elected in 2003, Thomas Aeschi of the SVP in 2011, and Manuela Weichelt of the Alternative - the Greens in 2019, becoming the first woman to represent the canton of Zug in the Federal House. This autumn, 24 more candidates than in 2019 are running for the National Council elections, bringing the total to 99. The Alternative - the Greens (ALG) have the most lists with seven, in partnership with the SP, CSP and EVP. The FDP is in alliance with the SVP, and the Mitte is in partnership with the GLP. In the Council of States elections, the two incumbents, Peter Hegglin and Matthias Michel, are running again and are likely to be re-elected. They are being challenged by seven candidates, including SVP president Thomas Werdner and National Council member Manuela Weichelt for the GLP, comedian Marco Rima as an independent, Aufrecht with two candidates, and Stefan Thöni of the Zuger Kleinpartei for Rationale Politik, Allgemeine Menschenrechte und Teilhabe (Parat).nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
