The voters of Innerrhoden re-elected all current members of the government at the Landsgemeinde in Appenzell on Sunday. Director of Education Roland Inauen remains President of the Government and Director of Economic Affairs Roland Dähler continues as Vice President.
Monika Rüegg Bless (center) was re-elected as Head of the Health and Social Affairs Department with one vote against. Head of Construction Ruedi Ulmann was named as an opposing candidate for the post of Head of Health at short notice from within the ring.
Head of Finance Ruedi Eberle (SVP) and Jakob Signer (Justice, Police and Military Department, non-party) were also confirmed in the Standing Committee (government). In addition, the voters in the ring again voted for Stefan Müller (center) as head of the Department of Agriculture and Forestry.
Head of Construction Ruedi Ulmann (center) was also re-elected. Two new names were called out of the ring at the Landsgemeinde and thus put forward as candidates against the previous head of construction. Cantonal Councillor Patrik Koster was able to garner a few votes. Ultimately, however, UImann was also confirmed.
Head of construction was recently criticized
Ulmann's Building and Environment Department was recently confronted with accusations of alleged non-compliance with deadlines for building permits. However, an external investigation report refuted these allegations. As a result of the criticism, possible names were mentioned in the run-up to the Landsgemeinde as candidates for the head of construction.
The voters of Innerrhoden always have the opportunity to call out names from the ring at the Landsgemeinde itself in order to spontaneously put forward an opposing candidate to the current members of government. This does not require an official candidacy in advance.
