Insel Gruppe parts ways with director Uwe E. Jocham

The Insel Group is parting ways with Director Uwe E. Jocham and Medical Director Urs P. Mosimann. Christian Leumann and Bernhard Pulver will take over the management of the hospital group on an interim basis, as announced on Thursday evening.
The Board of Directors of the Insel Group announced that it is convinced that the next stage will require a company leader who knows how to unite and motivate the employees, and in particular the management, behind him.
The Insel Gruppe was criticized for its communication and corporate culture, among other things. This criticism has increased in recent months.
Rifts had been opening up between the hospital management and some of the staff for some time. The Cantonal Parliament's Audit Committee (GPK) came to the conclusion that the resistance and dissatisfaction of the Insel workforce was closely linked to the ongoing restructuring, among other things.
Insel director Jocham prescribed numerous cost-cutting and restructuring measures for the company. However, the GPK also noted that the hospital group had no choice but to reorganize the company structurally and financially following the introduction of flat rates per case.
Nevertheless, it was announced in March that the Group had posted a consolidated loss of CHF 112.7 million in 2023.
Island looks to the future
The aim now is to exploit the potential of the new hospital information and control system and the new main building to the full, the Group wrote on Thursday. It also wants to further develop the organization and implement the future corporate strategy.
Until a new head of management is found, the Board of Directors will appoint an interim management team. This consists of Christian Leumann and Bernhard Pulver. Leumann is Rector of the University of Bern, Pulver is Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Insel Group.
