This year, many Swiss farmers are inviting people to their farms for a 1st August brunch. The offer is popular and 92 of the 260 farms have already been fully booked. Three members of the Swiss Federal Council will also be attending, including Elisabeth Baume-Schneider, Guy Parmelin and Ignazio Cassis. The idea behind the 1st August brunches is to give visitors an insight into life on a farm and to foster mutual exchange. The Swiss Parliament building in Bern will also be open on 1st August, with Ständeratspräsidentin Brigitte Häberli-Koller and Nationalratspräsident Martin Candinas answering questions from visitors. The 1st August brunches have been taking place for 30 years and are a popular way for people to learn more about life on a Swiss farm.
