Kanton Waadt Lowers Income Taxes

Residents of the Canton of Vaud will pay less taxes from next year onwards. On Tuesday, the Grand Council approved a 3.5% reduction in the cantonal income tax in its second reading. After lengthy debates between the left and right, the bill passed with 80 votes in favour and 57 against. This tax cut will result in a projected loss of revenue for the canton of approximately 105 million Swiss francs. Initially, the State Council had proposed a reduction of 2.5%, but under pressure from the Finance Commission, the cantonal government eventually agreed to a 3.5% reduction.nn
