Kiev: Second peace summit probably not in November

The Ukrainian leadership is preparing for a possible postponement of the second peace summit hoped for in November. The presidential office under Andryi Yermak is responsible for the preparations in Kiev. His advisor Dariya Sarivna told the news portal "Telegraf" that a November date would probably not be possible. Nevertheless, everything should be prepared for the upcoming summit.
Conferences are currently being held on individual topics of President Volodymyr Zelensky's peace plan, explained Sarivna on Telegram. The last such thematic conference - on humanitarian issues such as the exchange of prisoners - will take place on October 30 and 31. "The question of a date for the second peace summit will be decided after the conclusion of the thematic conferences," she wrote.
Ukraine brought together more than 100 countries and organizations that support it for a first peace summit in Switzerland in mid-June. Russia refused to participate from the outset and was therefore not invited. The follow-up meeting - this time preferably with Moscow - was actually supposed to take place before the US election on November 5. After that, US President Joe Biden, who supports Ukraine, will remain in office until January 20. If former President Donald Trump returns to the White House, it is uncertain whether and to what extent he will help the country attacked by Russia.
