A Lebanese public prosecutor has launched an investigation into twelve suspected members of an international paedophile ring. Suspects are said to be located in Switzerland, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey.
Five of the suspects have already been arrested, the French news agency AFP reported, citing legal sources.
The perpetrators allegedly operated via TikTok in particular and lured underage children under false identities. The victims were allegedly raped and filmed. They were threatened to publish the images. They were also threatened with death and forced to take narcotics. The images of the crimes were sold. Attempts were also made to kill several of the victims.
According to the judicial source, 28 members of the paedophile ring who recruited young people outside Lebanon have been identified so far. So far, six victims, who were no older than 16, have given testimony.
