The Pink Panorama film festival in Lucerne will be showing numerous international queer films at the Stattkino from November 15 to 18. The organizers promise "more performance, more politics, more party" for the 22nd edition.

As always, the festival starts with a short film program. On Saturday, the film "Life is not a competition, but I'm winning" is on the program. It was nominated for the "Queer Lion Award" at the Venice Film Festival and will now be shown as a Swiss premiere at the Pink Panorama.

The film explores how a collective of queer athletes honors those who are excluded from the podium: A trans marathon runner who struggles with the prejudices of sports organizers, and an 800-meter runner who was pressured by international sports federations to undergo hormone-altering surgery.

Following the film, director Julia Fuhr Mann and sports sociologist Karolin Heckemeyer will discuss gender diversity in sport.

There will also be a crash course in Lindy Hop on Saturday afternoon. This is a dance style from the 1930s in the USA, which is regarded as the forerunner of the jive, boogie-woogie and acrobatic rock'n'roll dances. As a prelude to the party and dance night that will close the festival. "Lindy Hop knows no rigid role models," wrote the organizers of Pink-Panorama in a press release.
