Major landslide in the Engadin probably ended mildly

A huge landslide in the Bernina group in the Engadine on Sunday has, according to current information, had no serious consequences. It appears that no people were injured.
The landslide occurred on Piz Scerscen at 07:00 on Sunday, said the mayor of Samedan, Gian Peter Niggli, in response to various media reports. The volume of the landslide is estimated at over one million cubic meters, which would be on a par with the Bondo landslide in 2017. The rock is piled up over a length of more than five kilometers in Val Roseg.
"Search flights have not brought any indications of buried people," Anita Senti, media officer for the Graubünden cantonal police, told the Keystone-SDA news agency. There have also been no reports of missing persons.
