The majority of the professional association of doctors FMH welcomes the new Tardoc tariff model. However, in an internal referendum, seven of more than 70 organizations affiliated to the umbrella association rejected the new tariff model presented by Federal Councillor Elisabeth Baume-Schneider on Tuesday.

Like the hospital association H+ and the health insurance association Santésuisse, the Swiss Medical Association FMH is of the opinion that the adoption of the new tariff model for the outpatient sector (Tardoc) "marks an important step" and sets the course for the future, as stated in a press release on Wednesday.

However, before the draft presented by Health Minister Baume-Schneider can be submitted to the Federal Council for approval, the final approval of the FMH must still be obtained. The medical association has 45,000 members and over 70 member organizations

Within the medical association, a number of specialists are voicing their opposition: the Swiss Society for Otorhinolaryngology and Facial Surgery, the Society for Dermatology and Venereology, the Society for Nuclear Medicine, the Society for Hand Surgery, the Society for Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and radiologists, as can be seen from the list that Keystone-SDA received from the FMH.

These seven medical associations have launched a referendum against the revision of the outpatient tariff, which was approved by a clear majority of FMH delegates on October 21.

The FMH is examining the legally correct procedure and will provide information on the next steps as quickly as possible in the coming weeks, according to the FMH. Tardoc is due to come into force on January 1, 2026 and will replace the Tarmed tariff model, which is considered outdated. Among other things, the new system will introduce outpatient flat rates.
