Man dies after collision with streetcar in Zurich

On Monday evening, a streetcar collided with a pedestrian in Zurich's District 7. The man was so seriously injured that he died in hospital a few hours later.
The 41-year-old pedestrian was crossing the streetcar tracks in the area of a pedestrian lane shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday evening, according to Zurich city police on Tuesday. Despite immediately applying the emergency brake, he was hit by a streetcar on line 3. The accident occurred on Hottingerstrasse near Steinwiesstrasse.
After initial treatment at the scene, the man was taken to hospital in a critical condition. He succumbed to his injuries there a few hours later.
