Man dies in Bern after swimming accident in the River Aare

A man got into difficulties in the River Aare in Bern on Sunday. He died in hospital after being rescued, according to the Bern cantonal police.
The man got into difficulties on Sunday afternoon in the area of the Fähribeizli restaurant in Muri bei Bern. He was rescued by third parties, as the police wrote in a statement.
The man was taken to hospital by ambulance and died a short time later despite immediate rescue measures. The deceased was a 26-year-old citizen of the Republic of North Macedonia, according to the statement.
The cantonal police have started an investigation.
