Manor announced on Monday that four artists have been awarded the Manor Art Prize 2024: Mathias Ringgenberg (alias Price) from Bern, Mahtola Wittmer from Lucerne, Johanna Kotlaris from Ticino and Gina Proenza from Vaud. Price, born in Rio de Janeiro, works in both performance and visual art, often overlapping different spaces such as theatre, performance, club, digital, runway and exhibition. Wittmer's work focuses on everyday occurrences and their absurd moments, often starting with performances and then transferring them into photographs, videos, drawings, objects or installations. Kotlaris, originally from Zurich, was chosen from the Museo d'arte della Svizzera italiana (MASI Lugano) and her work explores the complexity of relationships between the self and the other, using performance, video, installation, sculpture and text. Proenza, born in Bogotá and living in Lausanne and Geneva, was chosen from the Musée cantonal des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne for her original and delicate use of form and her references. The prize includes an exhibition, a catalogue and a prize. The Manor Art Prize is one of the most important awards for contemporary art in Switzerland, awarded in twelve cantons, alternating six cantons each year and six more the following year. The winners for the cantons of Aargau and Valais will be announced at a later date.nnnnnn
