Against the backdrop of the so-called Lex Netlix, five Swiss film production companies are joining forces to form Swiss Studios. The aim of the new company is to offer everything from the development of a film project to marketing from a single source.
The five companies Elite Filmproduktion, Praesens-Film Production, Contrast Series, Bavaria Fiction Switzerland and Kinescope Film are merging to form Swiss Studios, as announced by those responsible on Tuesday.
The merger is not a cooperation, but the five companies are founding a joint stock corporation. Swiss Studios is an independent Swiss film studio based in Zurich, according to the press release.
In future, the company intends to offer everything from a single source, from the development of film projects, production, distribution and marketing to the sale of licenses and services in the area of investment and billing obligations. Swiss Studios intends to provide these services for films, documentaries, series and television productions.
Swiss Studios wants to become a center for Swiss film and television projects. The mission is to "enrich the Swiss film industry and create internationally competitive productions", according to the management. For example, digital innovations for production processes are to be developed and then implemented.
The five production companies are joining forces against the backdrop of Lex Netflix, which obliges foreign streaming providers to invest in Swiss film and series production.
