The Migros Group will merge the Economic Policy and Sustainability Directorates on October 1, 2024. Christopher Rohrer will take over the overall management of the combined areas.

According to a statement on Wednesday, the main aim of the merger is to increase efficiency. Furthermore, when it comes to sustainability, it is increasingly important that "the political and economic framework conditions are right", Migros told the news agency AWP.

Christopher Rohrer will take over as Head of the new "Sustainability & Economic Policy" Directorate, which is based directly at the Federation of Migros Cooperatives (FMC). He has already been responsible for the Migros Group's Sustainability Directorate at the FMC since the beginning of 2024. Prior to that, he was responsible for sustainability at Migros subsidiary Denner for ten years. In 2017, he also took over economic policy there.

Jürg Maurer, who is currently Deputy Head of the Economic Policy Directorate, will take over as Head of the downstream Economic Policy Division. He reports directly to Rohrer.

Markus Neukom, who has headed the Economic Policy Directorate for five years, will retire at the end of September. After his retirement, Neukom will represent Migros' interests on the board of the Espace Mobilité association. This association represents the interests of Swiss retail companies in spatial planning, environmental and mobility matters.
