Military Deployed for Security Work in La Chaux-de-Fonds, NE

The Swiss Army is providing assistance to La Chaux-de-Fonds after the devastating storm that hit the city last week. Starting Wednesday, soldiers will be participating in security operations. The army will deploy disaster relief, engineering troops, and mountain specialists. The troops will remain in the watchmaking capital until August 11th. The work will be done in collaboration with the local civil authorities. The troops will accelerate and reinforce the security measures near schools to ensure the safety of students in time for the start of the school year on August 14th. The request for the army's help was made by the Neuchâtel State Council in coordination with the La Chaux-de-Fonds authorities.
