Missing man recovered dead in Lake Zug

The man who has been missing since Saturday after a boat accident on Lake Zug is dead. The 56-year-old was rescued from a depth of 80 meters on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Zug law enforcement authorities.

Specialists from the cantonal police forces of Geneva and Vaud, who had the experience and equipment for such dives, were called in for the rescue, according to the press release.

After the accident, the rescue services initially launched a search operation using sonar technology. The boat was located on the lake bed between Oberwil and Buonas. The diving robot of the Zurich cantonal police finally verified that it was the sunken sailing boat and a male person.

The ship has not yet been salvaged. The cause of the accident is also still unknown and is the subject of ongoing investigations, according to the statement.
