More than 4000 runners dressed up for the Marmite in Geneva

Around 4,000 people ran the 3.593-kilometre La Marmite route in Geneva on Saturday evening. This part of the Escalade run, in which there are no competitions, brings together participants of all ages from four years upwards. The motto is: dress up!
Santas, swarms of bees, herds of cows and dinosaurs, jellyfish, superheroes, robots and Asian dragons made their way through the old town.
Families, friends and colleagues walked past the Palace of Justice before running through the shopping streets to the Parc des Bastions, where they sometimes paused to dance with the bands that lined the route.
The 46th edition of the Course de l'Escalade, the most popular running competition in Switzerland, saw a record number of participants: 57,183 people registered, 87% of whom came from Geneva. The event continues on Sunday with the children's races.
