The mother accused of murder in Bern does not see her daughter as the reason for the separation from her partner. "No", the woman answers the court's question loud and clear.
The separation from her partner had come out of nowhere for her and had pulled the rug out from under her feet, the defendant said. The ex-boyfriend had testified that the mother had been dismissive towards her daughter after the separation. The defendant admitted that she was probably thin-skinned and hurt during this time. However, she had not wanted to give her daughter the feeling that she was not welcome.
It had always been clear to her, even with regard to a partnership, that mother and daughter only existed in a double pack. Of course, life as a single parent wasn't always easy, but she wasn't overwhelmed.
The last time she saw her daughter alive was when she left the apartment to go to a friend's house. Her daughter was very much looking forward to the visit.
The court president also asked the defendant about the discovery of her lifeless daughter by her mother. She had been in shock and had not been able to think properly, said the woman in tears. She only had the impulse to get help.
Before questioning the accused, the court also heard the woman's brother. He stated that his sister had made untrue statements about violence in her family of origin. There had never been any violence in the family to the extent she had described. Maybe a "slap" every now and then if they had done something wrong.
His sister had been obsessed with this story for a long time, probably because she realized that she could attract attention with it.
