Mountain communities sponsorship raises 4.4 million francs

The Swiss Association of Mountain Communities has collected 4.4 million francs for communities affected by storms. The communities would face enormous costs.
A fund set up by the organization with two million francs has grown to 4.4 million francs thanks to donations, Patenschaft Berggemeinden announced on Tuesday. Donations were made by foundations, companies, municipalities and benefactors.
The Zurich-based organization is calling for "federal solidarity" with financially weak municipalities. After the storms of recent weeks, they need to clear mud and debris and repair damaged infrastructure.
