The Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur, the Kunsthaus Bregenz, the Kunstmuseum Liechtenstein and the Kunstmuseum St. Gallen announced a new joint art platform called Cloud Castle on Tuesday. The first project will be realized by the artist Wu Tsang (USA) at Klanghaus Toggenburg.

Cloud Castle is an "innovative platform in an imaginary place", according to a press release issued by the four museums on Tuesday. It offers a field for experimentation in the border region of Liechtenstein, Austria and Switzerland. This opens up a space "for joint contemporary art projects".

Every year, an artist is invited to create a unique work of art in return. These works, which are realized in the form of workshops, performances, concerts or virtual networks, leave no material traces. They are intended to unfold their effect as a fleeting reality.

Start in Toggenburg

The project also includes a podcast series with the directors of the four institutions. In it, they will discuss the current works of art. The idea of exploring new and unconventional places beyond the usual museum walls is particularly appealing, Thomas D. Trummer, Director of the Kunsthaus Bregenz, is quoted in the press release.

The first guest of the Cloud Castle will be the US-American Wu Tsang at Klanghaus Toggenburg in January 2025. The filmmaker and visual artist will set the new building, which will not officially open until May, in motion for the first time with "Carmen in the Mountains", according to the press release.
