National Councillor Funiciello Forgoes Federal Council Candidacy

The Swiss People's Party (SP) has six candidates for the succession of Federal Councilor Alain Berset: Beat Jans, Jon Pult, Matthias Aebischer, Daniel Jositsch, Roger Nordmann and Evi Allemann. The SP co-presidency with Cédric Wermuth and Mattea Meyer has not yet expressed its ambitions.
The number of candidates has decreased after the announcement of the withdrawal of the Zurich National Councilor Fabian Molina and the Bern National Councilor Tamara Funiciello. Funiciello said in an interview published on Blick.ch that she sees her task in the National Council as more necessary than ever in view of the right-wing drift in parliament. She believes that her efforts are needed to promote feminist, climate protection and trade union issues.
