The University of Zurich (UZH), together with the canton of Graubünden, has created a chair at the Swiss Institute for Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF) in Davos GR. Their aim is to significantly strengthen Davos as a research location.

This new chair will now be included in the strategy of the UZH Faculty of Medicine, the responsible parties announced on Friday morning in Davos GR.

The canton of Graubünden has already increased its contribution by CHF 250,000 to a total of CHF 780,000 in 2024. The federal contribution to the SIAF amounts to CHF 1.46 million.

The density of research institutes in Davos is high. This is also thanks to tuberculosis. With the breakthrough of anti-tuberculosis treatments, the research objectives were also broadened. The Swiss Institute for Allergy and Asthma Research (SIAF) was founded in 1988 based on the old experience that patients with allergic asthma often became completely symptom-free in the high mountains. It has been affiliated to the UZH since 1996.
