Nine residents of two residential buildings in Courtepin in the canton of Fribourg were evacuated on Monday night after police discovered several home-made incendiary devices in an apartment. The occupant, a 28-year-old man, was provisionally arrested.
The case is most likely linked to an incident at the army's logistics center in Grolley, according to the Fribourg cantonal police. Several army vehicles were also damaged by fire on Monday morning.
The population was not at risk, it said. The public prosecutor's office in Fribourg has initiated criminal proceedings. The authorities did not wish to provide any further information for the time being.
The 28-year-old man fled from a police patrol shortly after 3.30 a.m. as he was traveling from Belfaux in the direction of Misery. On the run, he broke through a police cordon. The police were later able to apprehend the man in Courtepin.
During a search of his apartment, the police discovered the incendiary devices. Explosives experts from the Vaud cantonal police were also deployed.
