Number of National Council Candidacies and Lists Increases in Schwyz

In the canton of Schwyz, 103 women and men are competing for one of the four National Council seats. This is an increase from 84 in 2019. For the Council of States, five people are running, compared to six in the previous election. 27 lists have been submitted for the National Council elections, up from 21 in 2019. These lists feature 46 women and 57 men, representing a 45% female representation, up from 35% in 2019. The SVP currently holds two of the four National Council seats, with Mitte and FDP each holding one. Marcel Dettling (SVP) and Petra Gössi (FDP) are running again, with Gössi also running for the Council of States. Alois Gmür (Mitte) is not running again, and Pirmin Schwander is only running for the Council of States. The SP is also running, hoping to regain the seat they lost eight years ago. The GLP is also running, with former Bündner GLP-Nationalrat Josias Gasser as their top candidate. Coronaskeptiker Josef Ender is also running with his own list. Mass-voll is running with two candidates. For the Council of States, Othmar Reichmuth (Mitte) is running again, while Alex Kuprecht (SVP) is not. The SVP is running Pirmin Schwander, the FDP is running Petra Gössi, the SP is running Elsbeth Anderegg Marty, and the Greens are running Dave Heinzer.
