On its website, the online edition of the NZZ analyzes the decision of the Zurich High Court to overturn the first-instance verdict against former Raiffeisen CEO Pierin Vincenz and other defendants as follows:
"The annulment of the verdict proves how difficult it is to take legal action against white-collar crime. The deterrent effect of the harsh first-instance verdict in the Vincenz case has evaporated. (...) The rejection is an embarrassment for the Zurich public prosecutor's office, which has spent a lot of time and energy on this flagship case. But the Zurich District Court, which failed to recognize the errors in the indictment, also comes off badly."
