The Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland has taken over the proceedings concerning the explosion in an underground parking garage in Nussbaumen AG from the public prosecutor's office in Baden AG. Two men died in the explosion of powerful fireworks there on June 13.

The reason given by the Office of the Attorney General is its jurisdiction for explosives offenses, according to a report on the "Aargauer Zeitung" portal. In a statement, which is also available to the Keystone-SDA news agency, the Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland writes: "The preliminary evaluations indicate a completely unintentional misconduct with the dangerous substances".

According to the statement, criminal proceedings are underway against one person for multiple violations of the Explosives Act, multiple negligent homicides and endangering people with explosives and toxic gases without criminal intent.

A 24-year-old Swiss man and a 43-year-old Italian man died in the explosion. Eleven people suffered minor injuries and there was extensive damage to property.
