One Third More National Council Candidacies in Zug

A total of 99 people are vying for the three National Council seats in Zug, Switzerland, 24 more than in 2019 when 75 candidates ran. The number of lists has increased from 25 to 34. The three current Zug National Council members - Gerhard Pfister (Centre), Thomas Aeschi (SVP) and Manuela Weichelt (Alternative - the Greens) - are running again. The current Council of States members - Peter Hegglin (Centre) and Matthias Michel (FDP) - are also running again, and will be challenged by SVP cantonal president Thomas Werner and National Council member Manuela Weichelt (Greens). The GLP is running with newcomer Kim Weber, and comedian Marco Rima is running as an independent candidate. Aufrecht is running with two candidates (Adi Hadodo and René Zimmermann), and Stefan Thöni from Parat is running for the Council of States. In total, there are 9 (2019: 7) candidates for the Council of States. The voting lists will be available until 16 August, when any errors can be reported. After the correction process is complete, the corrected voting lists will be posted.nnnnnnnn
