Business at the Orell Füssli industrial and trading group is developing well in the second half of the year, according to the company. As a result, Orell Füssli is raising its business forecast. In addition, former SP member of the Council of States Pascale Bruderer is to join the Board of Directors.
Orell Füssli announced on Thursday that the good business performance in the second half of the year would lead to an adjustment in the 2023 annual forecast. While the group continues to expect sales growth, it now expects the operating profit (EBIT) margin at the end of the year to be at or slightly above the previous year's level. Previously, Orell Füssli had assumed a slight decline in the EBIT margin compared to the almost 7 percent achieved in 2022.
All business divisions contributed to the positive earnings trend, the statement continued. The main reasons for the improved margin outlook were lower than originally planned costs and seasonal sales effects that set in after the summer vacations.
Orell Füssli also announced that Pascale Bruderer will be proposed for election to the Board of Directors at the next Annual General Meeting in May. According to the press release, Bruderer has extensive experience and a broad network in both politics and business. She was a member of the National Council from 2002 to 2011 and then a member of the Council of States for the canton of Aargau until 2019.
Bruderer is now an independent entrepreneur and a member of the Board of Directors of several companies. She succeeds Dieter Widmer on the Board of Directors of Orell Füssli, who will step down from the Board at the Annual General Meeting in May after 13 years.
