On Ascension Day and until next Sunday, 54 children's and youth choirs from all over Switzerland will be singing in Neuchâtel. More than 1500 young people aged between ten and 25 are taking part in the 9th Swiss Children's and Youth Choir Festival.
Choirs from Rhaeto-Romanic, French, Italian and German-speaking Switzerland will be represented at the four-day festival. 21 children's choirs of primary school age have registered for the one-day Singplausch next Saturday.
The concerts take place in churches and halls, as well as on the boats of the Lake Neuchâtel and Lake Morat shipping company. The musical performances range from folk to pop to a flash mob.
The festival takes place every two years. The last edition was organized in Winterthur. After Lausanne in 2011, Neuchâtel is only the second city in French-speaking Switzerland to host the festival.
