Well over a million people visited the Basel Autumn Fair. According to the Basel-Stadt Presidential Department on Saturday, the beautiful weather made for a record year.
The crowds were particularly large at the weekends, the report continued. The 33 new lanes and stands were well received. The organizers are also considering repeating the first-ever "Golden Ticket" raffle. This enabled free rides on all rides on the first weekend.
A deposit system for pet bottles was new this year. It remains to be seen whether this will be retained. The figures are currently being evaluated and only then will the organizers decide.
The fair lasts two weeks. The locations Messeplatz, Münsterplatz and Barfüsserplatz as well as the Rosentalanlage and Kasernenareal will be busy until Sunday. In keeping with tradition, the Autumn Fair on Petersplatz with the "Hääfelimäärt" lasts two days longer.
