Parliament Concludes Legislature with Debates on Health Costs

The Swiss Parliament will be discussing several initiatives and laws in the last session before the federal elections. These include the Prämienentlastungs- and Kostenbremse-Initiative, the Stromversorgungsgesetz, the revision of the Raumplanungsrechts, the Landschaftsinitiative, the Monismus-Vorlage, the Tabakwerbeverbots-Initiative, the Leopard-2-Panzer, and the CO2-Gesetzes. The Prämienentlastungs- and Kostenbremse-Initiative will be discussed in the first session week, and the Prämien for 2024 will be announced at the end of the session. The Stromversorgungsgesetz will be discussed, with the controversial Solarpflicht for buildings and parking lots being a key element of the energy transition. The revision of the Raumplanungsgesetzes will be discussed, with the aim of separating building and non-building areas in the constitution. The Monismus-Vorlage will be discussed, with the aim of unifying the financing of health services. The Tabakwerbeverbots-Initiative will be discussed in the second session week, with the aim of banning tobacco advertising in places where it can reach children and young people. The Leopard-2-Panzer will be discussed, with the final decision on the sale of the tanks being made by the state government. The CO2-Gesetzes will be discussed, with the aim of achieving two-thirds of emissions reduction in the country and one-third abroad.
