People with disabilities should be able to live at home and independently for as long as possible. To this end, the AHV should finance more aids for mobility and autonomy for those affected in the AHV age. On Tuesday, the Council of States accepted a corresponding motion of the Health Commission of the National Council with 25 to 13 votes, following the National Council. The expansion should clearly focus on those aids that can delay or prevent admission to a home, said Commission spokeswoman Maya Graf (Green / BL). In addition, the need for an aid must be therapeutically indicated. A minority rejected the motion. For the care of the elderly and people with disabilities at home, the cantons are responsible, said Peter Hegglin (Middle / ZG). These would finance such aids with the supplementary benefits. If the federal government were now to reimburse additional aids via AHV, there would be overlaps. The Federal Council also rejected the motion, as Health Minister Alain Berset said. Among other things, because the costs triggered for the AHV are difficult to quantify. Instead, those affected should be supported more specifically. For this purpose, other projects are already being worked out.
