Patrik Degiacomi (SP) is clearly in the lead with 3356 votes after the first round of voting for the presidency of the city of Chur on Sunday. The second round of voting will take place on June 30. The entry of the Greens into the Chur city council was a surprise.
The absolute majority for the election to the mayor's office was 4484 votes. Degiacomi already seemed to be in the best position as deputy mayor before the elections. The incumbent mayor Urs Marti (FDP) has to vacate his seat due to term limits.
The other two middle-class candidates, Hans Martin Meuli (FDP) and Sandra Maissen (center), received 2,562 and 1,227 votes respectively.
Surprise in the city council
The elections for the three-member Chur city council provided a surprise. With Simon Gredig, the Greens made it onto the council, after the party failed four years ago by just 200 votes. The FDP was able to retain Marti's seat with Hans Martin Meuli.
However, Patrik Degiacomi also achieved the best result with 5101 votes. The incumbent city councillor Sandra Maissen was not re-elected.
