Following the discovery of DNA traces in a stolen car, the French police have launched a large-scale search operation in the case of Lina, a teenager who went missing in Alsace ten months ago. This was announced by the public prosecutor's office in Strasbourg.
Investigators assume that a crime has been committed. Numerous police forces have been deployed since the morning in the Bruche Valley near the village of Saint-Blaise-la-Roche, reported the newspaper "Le Parisien".
The then 15-year-old disappeared there on September 23 last year on the three-kilometre walk from her home to the train station. The public prosecutor's office in Strasbourg announced last Friday that it had seized a car in which investigators found traces of the teenager's DNA. The car had been in the immediate vicinity at the time of the teenagers' disappearance.
As reported by "Le Parisien" with reference to the investigators, the stolen car is said to have been driven by a local petty criminal. The man is said to have taken his own life after the car was seized. Investigators suspect that he had driven past the teenager by chance and offered her a lift. He then allegedly killed her under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.
Based on witness statements, the investigators had searched for different types of car as part of the manhunt. Then the recently discovered car came to the attention of the investigators, which the officers located in the south of France after a long search.
